GROUP DISCUSSION ON “People these days have become impatient, are brisk in their attitude as if running a road race”

Life is very simple, but we insist on making it difficult. It’s our actions that decide the course and level of difficulty that we ought to endure. One not only puts itself through pressure and tension and but also inflicts them on others as well. It’s more like a communicable disease that spreads like a wild fire Tension, pressure at work, relations in short; problems in life now come in various forms that are enough to boggle one’s mind.
The result being people develop a negative attitude, a varied rude behavior. Even for small instances outbreak of fights, quarrels and agitations among people. They lose their calm so easily often resulting into an ugly situation. The increased work load, deadlines, duties, technology has brought more negatives with itself than their benefits. Increased used and sometimes overdo of such fascinating technology disturbs mental peace and creates disturbances in one’s mind.  Man takes the agitation from somebody else and passes it on to others, much similar in working to a cyclic chain.

These things dilute the moral ethics and teachings of the general mankind which results in loss of regards for others difference in outlook. “Born to fight”, there’s always eager to jump in and create an impact. All running a road race. No one bothers to develop a feeling of empathy, instead becoming more arrogant towards others
We are so caught up in the vicious circle of life that we fail to notice the presence of others, if one tries to alter these thoughts by imbibing the positive from others then.  Everyone wants to be ahead of others, that leads to nothing except a rat race, following madly one another.
It is by time management only that one could keep oneself or rather abstains or dwell in a change within one self. With the correct use of time anyone could lead a simple life.

GROUP DISCUSSION ON HOW SOCIAL MEDIA CAN POTENTIALLY ALTER OR INFLUENCE THE MINDS OF TODAY’S YOUTH

It is highly inevitable that today’s youth spend a large amount of their daily time on social media. Social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter are an important part in their lives. Newspapers are read more on websites than their hardcopy counterparts. Political parties have seen this change of landscape and have resorted to tactics to change the minds of the youth by publicizing and advertising over the internet.

Social media and political influence can have both positive and negative impacts. Social media tools including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube allow politicians to speak directly to voters without spending a dime. Using those social media allows politicians to circumvent the traditional method of reaching voters through paid advertising or earned media. It has become fairly common for political campaigns to produce commercials and publish them for free on YouTube instead of, or in addition to, paying for time on television or the radio. Often times, journalists covering campaigns will write about those YouTube ads, essentially broadcasting their message to a wider audience at no cost to the politicians.

Twitter and Facebook have become instrumental in organizing campaigns. They allow like-minded voters and activists to easily share news and information such as campaign events with each other. That's what the "Share" function on Facebook and "retweet" feature of Twitter are for. Some campaigns have used so-called money bombs to raise large amounts of cash in short period of time. Money bombs are typically 24-hour periods in which candidates press their supporters to donate money. They use social media such as Twitter and Facebook to get the word out, and often tie these money bombs to specific controversies that emerge during campaigns.

Direct access to voters also has its down sides. Handlers and public-relations professionals often manage a candidate’s image, and for good reason: Allowing a politician to send out unfiltered tweets or Facebook posts has landed many a candidate in hot water or in embarrassing situations.

Arvind Kejriwal: Social media will become a key channel for citizen interaction, organization & action. We are already seeing people come together on social media to influence policy making. This will only grow in coming times. Social media provides a convenient, “always on” channel for people of similar ideology to come together & interact. We believe Social media going forward will not be about “influencing” but “shaping” opinion, policies further.

GROUP DISCUSSION ON WHETHER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL TREND IN INDIA OR NOT

The Indian market is basically a market for hatchback cars. As as an Indian we first look for the price that we will pay to buy any car before its technical details like mileage, fuel economy and other features. In the past we have already witnessed the release of many automatic transmission cars, but they were sedan and even caused a big hole in our pockets in terms of its market buying price or on road price. But recently we witnessed the launch of a new hatch back car by Maruti Suzuki by the name of "Celerio". It is called to be a city car and is set to be launched in India in April 2014. It was even showcased in this year's Auto Expo. It is said to compete with other hatch back cars, namely Hyundai I-10 and I-20, Ford Figo, Chevrolet beat and spark, Honda Brio and Nissan Micra. It is launched by Maruti to increase its sales in India in terms of hatchback cars which was dipping down since 2011. The launch of celerio will shut down the production of Maruti's A-star and zen estilo. Talking about its physical appearance its a normal 5 door car like other hatchbacks only. It works on front wheel drive and has front engine. Though the car is a city car, but the best feature that this car  possesses is that it has both manual and automatic transmissions. It has a 5 speed manual gear transmission system and 4 speed automatic transmission. It will obviously trend in India as it will increase the leisure and comfort of the driver as in India due to heavy traffics, it is very much tiring to drive on Indian roads. Secondly, it is a car manufactured for Indians only as it has an awesome mileage of 19.0 kmpl in city and 22 kmpl for highways. It won't even cause a hole in your pocket as it is about 3.82-4.85 lakhs depending on whether manual or automatic transmission and other extra features. So whatever you want from a hatchback car that's too being an automatic transmission hatchback car is celerio and analytically also it will be a huge success in Indian markets even for a long run. So automatic transmission is the upcoming trend in hatch back cars that will be seen all over on roads in India.

GROUP DISCUSSION ON INCURRING VALUES

Values are set of identities that make an individual ethically existent. But the question here is, should it be imposed or self-actuated? Why is it that we have moral sciences/value based education in our junior classes? Is it that society has lost all morality that we need to keep reminding it of ideals?
Well , the discussion unfolded with students giving their views on the same , describing what they feels values are and how 'values' have existed in a society which is a very closely knit framework.
Values are core beliefs that guide and motivate attitudes and actions. They are independent of race, religion, creed and state. A child is never taught to inculcate something which is wrong or of which is erroneous. It is the fading away of values with time that have led to a futile environment and their entailment needs to be kept a check on.
GD was on values and how each and everything around us affect in incurring  values in us...and whether the values can be forced in someone to change his or her perception....
The values are the morals which we start inculcating in us right from the birth. Our parents are the best source...they give us values, Ethics. Morals...but as we grow...we are exposed to many changes around us...which can have an influence on our pre build perception of what values are...but at the same time the values are an individualistic approach of visualizing a situation. They cannot be forced in but they can only be taught and an individual can be sensitized with the help of various sources like media. Newspaper...cinema...but can never be forcefully inculcated in someone...
We are a result of what we are born with, that is our nature, and what we learn to become, that is nurture.
To be a learned person, it is not sufficient to be educated, but to have an insight into everything around you.
Having knowledge in every field makes you find out what suits you best, what you are best at.

I feel it is equally important to gain knowledge from every possible source, or rather treat every experience, every encounter in life as a lesson.

GROUP DISCUSSION ON “SMART PHONES ARE CREATING UNSMART PEOPLE?”

With time,Technology has changed its phases in several forms. Smart phones are one of them. People are becoming more and more dependent on these phones, right from their morning time to their night time. People are becoming lazy and dumb. They didn’t want to use their brain even for small calculations as well. This is causing lack of interaction between people that leads to religious differences. People hesitate in talking to each other as they feel proud on themselves carrying these Smart phones.
Smart phones are making people less smart. So many people are completely consumed and obsessed with their phone. They start checking out their mails and other social networking sites 24/7, which  are not so important, they are simply show off’s.  In reality, these smart phones should be nicknamed "stupid phones," because they're just making us dumb. We have become dumb. We're like little children who constantly need stimulation.
Technology is great up to a certain point, but it is making us dumb as a society. Why? We no longer pay attention to what's going on around us, because all we are is consumed with our so-called smartphone. The more people get these, the more people become addicted to them, and the less social interaction people have (and learn how to have). It has now become mandatory that we start interacting more with each other, and less and with our new best friend -- the smartphone. This was the first half of our discussion.
Now in the rest there are some who think that, introduction of smart phones has made life much easier. Now one can receive, send and share in just a seconds of time. Technology is a part of our life, there is no one who doesn’t makes use of it and these phones are just a part of it. So there is no harm in using smart phones because they provide a helping hand in several aspects. They said that yes, they are declining in making face to face interaction with people but on the other side we are increasing social communication through the means of mails, blogging, video calls etc. This was the whole part of our discussion.
