Values are set of
identities that make an individual ethically existent. But the question here is,
should it be imposed or self-actuated? Why is it that we have moral
sciences/value based education in our junior classes? Is it that society has
lost all morality that we need to keep reminding it of ideals?
Well , the discussion
unfolded with students giving their views on the same , describing what they
feels values are and how 'values' have existed in a society which is a very
closely knit framework.
Values are core beliefs
that guide and motivate attitudes and actions. They are independent of race, religion,
creed and state. A child is never taught to inculcate something which is wrong
or of which is erroneous. It is the fading away of values with time that have
led to a futile environment and their entailment needs to be kept a check on.
GD was on values and how each and everything
around us affect in incurring values in
us...and whether the values can be forced in someone to change his or her
perception....
The values are the
morals which we start inculcating in us right from the birth. Our parents are
the best source...they give us values, Ethics. Morals...but as we grow...we are
exposed to many changes around us...which can have an influence on our pre
build perception of what values are...but at the same time the values are an individualistic
approach of visualizing a situation. They cannot be forced in but they can only
be taught and an individual can be sensitized with the help of various sources
like media. Newspaper...cinema...but can never be forcefully inculcated in
someone...
We are a result of what
we are born with, that is our nature, and what we learn to become, that is
nurture.
To be a learned person,
it is not sufficient to be educated, but to have an insight into everything
around you.
Having knowledge in
every field makes you find out what suits you best, what you are best at.
I feel it is equally
important to gain knowledge from every possible source, or rather treat every
experience, every encounter in life as a lesson.
