GROUP DISCUSSION ON WHETHER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL TREND IN INDIA OR NOT

The Indian market is basically a market for hatchback cars. As as an Indian we first look for the price that we will pay to buy any car before its technical details like mileage, fuel economy and other features. In the past we have already witnessed the release of many automatic transmission cars, but they were sedan and even caused a big hole in our pockets in terms of its market buying price or on road price. But recently we witnessed the launch of a new hatch back car by Maruti Suzuki by the name of "Celerio". It is called to be a city car and is set to be launched in India in April 2014. It was even showcased in this year's Auto Expo. It is said to compete with other hatch back cars, namely Hyundai I-10 and I-20, Ford Figo, Chevrolet beat and spark, Honda Brio and Nissan Micra. It is launched by Maruti to increase its sales in India in terms of hatchback cars which was dipping down since 2011. The launch of celerio will shut down the production of Maruti's A-star and zen estilo. Talking about its physical appearance its a normal 5 door car like other hatchbacks only. It works on front wheel drive and has front engine. Though the car is a city car, but the best feature that this car  possesses is that it has both manual and automatic transmissions. It has a 5 speed manual gear transmission system and 4 speed automatic transmission. It will obviously trend in India as it will increase the leisure and comfort of the driver as in India due to heavy traffics, it is very much tiring to drive on Indian roads. Secondly, it is a car manufactured for Indians only as it has an awesome mileage of 19.0 kmpl in city and 22 kmpl for highways. It won't even cause a hole in your pocket as it is about 3.82-4.85 lakhs depending on whether manual or automatic transmission and other extra features. So whatever you want from a hatchback car that's too being an automatic transmission hatchback car is celerio and analytically also it will be a huge success in Indian markets even for a long run. So automatic transmission is the upcoming trend in hatch back cars that will be seen all over on roads in India.

  1. Automatic transmission is very comfortable as the driver does not have to change the gears with changing speed and this provide lots of convenience in city traffic moreover, it requires lesser skills to drive an automatic transmission car as compared to manually driven cars as the driver has to operate just the accelerator, brake and steering so, there is less chance of any accidents.
There are some disadvantages of automatic transmission system like their initial cost is higher along with it's maintenance cost and also they have less fuel efficiency but there is a very bright future for automatic transmission cars in India as in this fast moving environment everybody wants to work with greater ease and safety.

  2. With the launch of Celerio, Maruti has yet again given a new direction to the automobile industry. Celerio is a hatchback car with automatic as well as manual transmission.
First of all let us discuss automatic transmission. In manual transmission a driver has to change the gear manually everytime he changes speed betwee certain range. It becomes very hectic and tiring for the driver. In automatic transmiasion the change in gear with varying speed is done automatically. It gives a completely different experience to the driver. It makes driving very easy and comfortable. Until now automatic transmission came at the cost of higher price and lower mileage. But this is not the case with Celerio. It doesn't compromise with the mileage and is not more costly than other cars.
It is surely a revolutionary idea of having automatic transmission while addressing other concerns of the market. This has a great potential and is the future of the automobile industry.
