For most students, entering
college is a terrifying and an overwhelming experience. It’s a case of when the
fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all. We don’t know if we adjust to
a place where every single student has to stand on their own two feet and take
responsibility for our education and future.
This transition from high school
to college is the most significant in our lives. Sadly, some college students
believe that college is only about finding a job. I admit, I was one of those
students. But my college experience till now has helped me realize that college
is about finding yourself; who you are as a person and the type of person you
want to be.
.
When it came time for me to begin looking at colleges I wasn't sure where I
wanted to go. I felt that their were so many choices and I found it difficult
narrowing my choices down. Factors such as the college size, the college
locale, and the cost were all part of my decision process. But I was into
automobiles, so after researching a lot , Amity University became my top choice
by virtue of its communication proximity to my hometown Bhubaneswar. The
location was important because I knew that I would be exposed to students with
different experiences and back grounds from that of my own.
From the first day, I recognized
that college meant something more. It helped the transition of going from high
school to a larger world full of different people and different experiences.
You don’t have to live in a dorm, make your own schedule, and have plenty of
resources at your disposal. Libraries, computers, tutors are all within reach.
During my first semester, I did
feel slightly overwhelmed by the college experience. But I began to become
comfortable when I connected with other students. They might have been from a
different state , but they have the same problems and fears as I did. As I got
became relaxed in my new environment, one question remained: “What do I want to
do with my life?”
Ever since middle school, I’ve
been told and complimented about my writing. I didn’t notice at the time how
serious I took every essay I received or every story I conceived.
The first half of my second year
was not that good as I got into fight with one of my best friend and I was in
depression the whole semester. But in 4th semester we sorted out the
misunderstanding and I was happy. In second year , in 4th semester
some of friend could find this hidden talent of dancing in me and asked me to
dance with a group and I was very happy and enjoyed a lot with them performing
at many place. The fun with with friends, the H block, hanging out , bunking
our classes all have become a significant part of my memory but the other part
of it goes to the devil who has always ensured us to stay where we are and also
in our limits the attendance. The most feared and respected thing what i have
felt about amity in these four four years is not its crowd but attendance. It
has always made us sit idle in front of our professors always pretending to be
studying with our minds in our mobile games and wonderful apps.
In last three years in college I have met many wonderful people who have left a special place in my heart and mind.. Apart
from the studies, the projects, the assignments and the presentations have
become a usual routine which have helped in boosting our confidence levels. The
value added courses sometimes makes my mood a little irritated but they too
have proved to be an integral part of our lives.
As I come to the end of my time at Amity
University, I truly look forward to the opportunity to expose myself to
the exceptionally diverse community of a major university. After rethinking
some of the diverse people I have come into contact with while attending Amity,
I believe that having the opportunity to meet
more people from
many diverse cultural
backgrounds could teach me more
about life than anyone else. This life and
my time at Amity University will be cherished in my memories forever for the
unforgettable journey it has accompanied me with.
