The previous three and a half years of my life which I spent
in Amity University can be compared to the taste of a grape which is sweet as
well as sour. The life has been like a roller coaster full of ups and downs
which gives you surprises and shocks as well. There have been a lot of good
things that have happened to me. The experience that we get after spending so
much time in the college is truly worth it. I got to meet people from almost
all over the country and made friends with many of them. We get to know so much
new when we talk to different people with different aspect of looking at the
world. The first year at amity was not that good because we were not quite adjusted
to the college life. It was a total change from the school life. The changes
were positive as well as negative. Positive because now we had more freedom and
less restrictions as compared to school. The use of mobile phones had increased
tremendously as we could now carry it anywhere, although nowadays its use has
increased in schools as well. Made new friends could hangout with them and many more things. But
the sad was that now the working hours had increased, number of subjects had
increased and the each lecture continued for one full hour. So, it took time to
adjust to these things. For me the first semester was the hardest because I had
no no idea how the exams would be like and how the checking would be like and
how strictly do they treat you overall here.
And consequently due to some reason my admit card was not
generated on time and I almost missed my electrical science practical exam .
And when the end term result came I had failed in mathematics exam which I had
not expected at all. Things were not going the way I had expected them to go.
People expect the college life to be lighter and happier than school but to my
surprise it was an absolute contrast. We had to do more assignments we had to
make more practical files and here in amity people are stricter as well. These
are not only my words but everyone agrees to it as well. As the time passed we
got used to it and life became comparatively easier in the second year. By now
everyone had chosen their group of friends and the class is divided into many
groups. But everyone is a friend of everyone else in the class. By the end of the second year we were used to
end term exams and minor exams was no more a matter of worry for us any more.
Initially we were quite excited about the foreign language which was easier and
quite a relief from the core subjects. But at the end of the third year foreign
language also could not relieve us rather it also seemed to become a pain in
the back. I believe it is not the mistake of the university but the ineffectiveness
of our education system that we could not keep up our interest in studying even
if we wanted to. A lot of focus had been on doing the assignments and making
the files which most of us obviously did by simply copying. The courses like
ours i.e Bachelor Of Technology are extended upto a time period of four years
and even after studying for four years most of us are not enough trained to
work in a company. The sad part is that the course matter is far from reality
and based on assumptions which is not at all applicable in the real world. What
I have understood till now is that we need to put a lot of extra efforts apart
from the studies to remain ahead in this rat race and to gain real knowledge we
need to go much beyond the books.
