It was my birthday the day I joined Amity. I was quite confused
about how I was feeling. Sad or happy to stay away from my parents and start a
new life? It was kind of both. And now it’s more than 3 and a half years I have
been in Amity and life has been quite good here.
1st year, it was kind of rough. Had some problems in
adjusting to a new lifestyle, new people, different food habit etc etc. I
realized that life isn’t going to be the same hereafter. As time went by, fun
started taking its route. Made a hell lot of friends, got selected in the
college band to play the bass guitar, and things turned out pretty well. It was
a good experience to perform as a guest band in one’s own college’s annual
fest.
2nd year, after being pissed off by some irrelevant courses
in first year, gave some new life into my engineering life. Interesting courses
came up. Interesting curriculum, knowledge boosting projects, everything just
paved a way for an exciting engineering life. Joined other bands in Delhi,
played a lot in many colleges, both in band competitions as well as star night.
Started learning mixed martial arts in the university’s gym, did a project on
jet engines. Interesting 2nd year it was.
3rd year, almost into core mechanical engineering. Being
a student of dual degree course had to study courses of post graduation
together with the courses of graduation. The real fun started right in this
year. Always aspired to learn about automobiles and here I was at gate of the
knowledge bank of automobile engineering. Apart from studies, continued my
music career. Played songs for some short movies. Made a music video with the
band. Towards the end, began my summer internship in Oil India Limited,
Duliajan, Assam and I must admit, it was one two month training period which I had
never experienced before. Right from trending technologies to classic old
technologies, I got to lay my hands on all. I experienced how the job life is.
And guys, I am telling you this, job life is as much fun as is college life.
Trust me!
4th year, supposed to be the last year of B.Tech, but yet
not my last year in college. Most memorable thing was the trip that I made to
IIT Roorkee and Rishikesh with my classmates. Sessions for grooming the
students for placement, the ever interesting subjects of M.Tech, oh God, it has
been a wonderful time. Made another music video with another band to pay
tribute to the Delhi gang rape case victim Damini. Released it on exactly the
same day when the incident took place. The bridge between college life and job
life can be clearly seen.
I am in the last half of the 4th year and I never knew
how this 3 and half years flew away. It feels like I came to Amity just
yesterday. College has never felt boring. Coming to college in the hot mornings
of the summer, the foggy winters, bunking classes, skipping lectures, clashes
with people, break-ups, annual fest, I’ll never be able to forget all this. I
wish I could live these 3 and half years again and again. Hoping that 5th
year in Amity shall be more exciting!
