4 Years……1460
days… 35040 hours… a long journey but a memorable one
It all started
back in 2010, when I shifted from Jabalpur, a small little sleepy town in
Madhya Pradesh to this vast and intimidating world known as Delhi. I came here with lots of dreams, hopes and to
be honest a lot of uncertainty too.
College life
began here at Amity. I joined pretty late and was about 2 months into the new
session already. I missed my freshers too which I had heard from everyone is a
memorable event of one’s college life. Anyways, new people seemed all strange
faces. The very first lecture and I remember it was that of Prof. Prem Narayan,
applied mathematics. The less I say the better it is. But I learnt something
that day … and since then every day at college taught me a different lesson. It
slowly began to change me. I learned that if one needs to grow only he is
responsible for all that he does , his efforts an his hard work are solely
responsible for him to touch the sky .
As the days
progressed I started making new friends, was skeptical about them initially
because this was a whole new world. New people new personalities, new outlooks
towards life, more or less everything was new. It was also the first time I was
staying without family. So initially it took a lot of time to adjust and adapt
to the environment. When I look back, all I can remember about the people I met
that they taught me a lot. Each one of them gave me a new outlook towards life
and that helped me shape my point of view of what’s wrong and what’s right.
Meanwhile I made some amazing friends, friends for a lifetime. There were some
with whom life got so attached that they became as close as family. I found a
brother in my closest buddy Shoumik. We had the most amazing time ever,
enjoying every day to the fullest. And I
am sure this bond will grow stronger with each day.
Coming back to
the college and what it gave me other than some amazing friends, it gave me
knowledge and made me an engineer. There were just so many things I felt were
wrong with the education system and rather the whole process here that if I
start writing it this blog would overload. But then life is not about
perfection, it’s about finding it within imperfection. There were times when I
felt that amendments should be made for the betterment, at least someone should
do something about it. But then I also realized that no one was interested and
that all our efforts are futile. This was one of the biggest lessons of my time
here at college. If in any organization you feel something is wrong and you
want to change it you should give it a try but if no one wants to improve its
futile to continuously fight against it rather one should try to work things
around. And that brought me to some people whom I respect from the bottom of my
heart. These were some faculty members who actually cared for their students. I
met fellow students who wanted to touch the sky just like me. And we started
working together on projects which helped me become an engineer from within. I
had the opportunity to come along some of the finest professors who had
in-depth knowledge in their field and more than that they had the ability to
impart this knowledge to us in the best possible way. During these past few
years here I also got to explore my passion of art and photography and also was
able to showcase my work to others and spread happiness among them. Had also
the most amazing opportunity to be selected by the Japanese government on a
scholarship program to Japan, which will forever be the most memorable time of
my life. All in all these past 4 years gave me memories for a life time.
I got a new
definition of the word “engineer”. He is a person who is not only an artist but
someone who makes art come alive. He is a craftsman, a person who can find
solution to answers where others give up. He is also someone who can dream and
make it a reality.
