Many people seem to
believe that college students have it really easy. When I was in high school, I
couldn’t wait until I graduated. Everyone always told me that college was so
much fun, and it was so much easier than high school. I dreamed of the college life
that I would have. In my first year in college, i realized that the life of a college student is not
that easy as was expected. I never imagined just how hard it would be. Many students enter college expecting good times,
knowledge, friendships, and a new sense of direction. They soon find out that
college comes with challenges and struggles because of the great demands and
expectations that are put on the importance of education. College students
experience a great deal of stress, especially when they are trying to balance a
full time job. The demands of doing many different things with very little time
can become overwhelming.
My first day at the
college was very exciting as I just entered the college life after high school
as it was a whole new experience. I was overwhelmed with the college
infrastructure and facilities it provided.
Many hangout spots were
there in the college like the H block where you could see almost the whole
college eating , chatting or roaming around. It was a little scary at the first
sight of so many strangers around you. Then i gradually started to know the
culture and know hows of the college life and got along quite well. Then came
the second year where actual stress for the studies came into picture when i
got a reality check and got two backs in the 3rd semester. From that
point of time i got serious in the studies and enjoyed side by side without
compromising the studies. This made me more responsible.
Then as i entered the
third year, i was expecting a whole new year ahead with many more surprises. At
this time i was a senior and it just did not feel that way. Then came the 2
months internship which i did in Air India. It was a glimpse of the
professional life ahead as i had to enter a whole new world after 2 years. I had
a sneek peek the professional culture, the ways of working, people working hard
to achieve targets amongst a huge competition among themselves.
Then finally came the
fourth year through which i realized about my end of the college life. This
started with the final year project for which i was really excited.
Well, i am still left
with a year of masters, part of the dual degree, but times will not be same as
before. Those days unfortunately will
never come back and i can look back.
