My experience at Amity

“There is a time and place for everything and it’s called College”.
These were the words which my friend said to me when I was about to join the university. Though almost four years have passed by but it still seems like just a few days back when I received my joining letter from Amity University. I was really happy as I had got 50% scholarship with a direct admission that meant no interview or group discussion, I had to just storm through the college gates on the first day.
And finally on 28th July, 2010 the day arrived. I was quite nervous entering into a whole new world with different people around. I met with my new classmates and we started interacting with each other and the next thing we know is that we have to give a TEST!! I mean which college welcomes its new students with an exam on the very first day. Eventually it all came through and my journey began. The journey which was going to last five years covering more than 60 subjects, 120 exams, numerous assignments and projects. But we Engineers, we can handle anything.
The first semester, no doubt it was toughest one as I was still adjusting to the new environment and teachers. And it did reflect on my mark-sheets, but I was happy that I cleared all the subjects with a fairly good pointer breaking the jinx that “First semester me to Back aati hi hai”. Then came the even semester and then odd and then even again. The one thing I hated regarding the syllabus was that we Mechanical students were being taught Computer science subjects. Even the thought of learning the computer language irritated me so I studied those only to pass and nothing more.
And then there was our H Block having the eating joints, the main cafeteria, CCD, SUBWAY, Dominoes. This was my temporary refuge from the monotonous life of lectures and attendances .Thanks to this block I did not succumb to the boring part of college life. Another interesting part of the college was the Amity Youth Fest. Every year for three days all of us enjoyed to the fullest from small events regarding games, treasure hunts to the big star night. I have made some of very good friends at college who keep on adding spice to the college life when it seems to get a bit neutral. Together we have visited numerous places around, celebrated birthdays, got ourselves in fights, played pranks and much more.
In the beginning of my seventh semester I got selected as the Transmission department head of the Amity Racing Team for SUPRA SAE India 2014. This was one of the best things that happened to me during my college life. And at present I and my team are building our very own Formula 1 style racing car.
So now when I look back to all those years that have passed by I feel happy that I have achieved something. I have made good friends. I have laughed at my mistakes and made effort to correct them. I have maintained a positive attitude throughout and I have enjoyed my time here at Amity University.
